At the core of my work is a belief that art should evoke emotion and provoke thought. I strive to create pieces that sing visually, but also inspire conversations and connections among viewers. The essence of my paintings lies in our interaction with the world and the unique lens through which we perceive and interpret our connections to it. My current body of work explores lucid dreaming, and the connection to memory.
I begin each piece with a memory/dream in mind, but allow the materials, sketches, music, and my intuition to guide me as I work. I like to play with colour and texture, layering in stages and being led from one process to another.
How memory accumulates, disintegrates, shifts and eventually fades resonates on both a personal and creative level. I am particularly interested in how memory is constructed and how the loss of it, especially after trauma, impacts our sense of identity.
